An epic quest and question in five acts

Shelly Webster
27 August 1985
John Van Dyke: When our children can go to any street corner in America and buy pornography for five dollars, don't you think that is too high a price to pay for free speech?
President Josiah Bartlet: No. On the other hand, I think that five dollars is too high a price to pay for pornography.

I am fucked up. That's the best way to put things. But whatever. I am me.

I can't always sleep...and when I do, I can't wake. Sometimes it seems I am never really awake.

Some might call me flighty, but I don't mean to be.
I'm just a lone college drop-out who has too many interests for her own good.

As all leather trenchcoats have a good backstory, I made one up for mine...

The false behind my jacket

I was deemed too smart for my own good. They suspected I was a spy, because I am too brilliant to be just a simple retail worker and I am such a flagrant britophile, but they had no concrete evidence.

The government couldn't justify getting me killed. So instead they unofficially hired an assassin to take me out.

The assassin had to pretend to be just a regular mugger and wasn't ready for me so I turned the tables on her, stabbing her with her own knife.

Having inherited a thing for leather from mum, I thought her black leather trenchcoat was nice. So I took it, only to find that she was a successful and notorious assassin when I searched her wallet.

Now I wear it as a trophy and a warning to anyone else who might try to kill me.
